Dolomite Ski Safari

Adventures

Your "Ski Safari" will begin in the quaint village of Ortisei and our comfortable family run Alpenhotel Rainell located in the heart of the Dolomites, Val Gardena, South Tyrol. The entire Dolomites region are a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of their uniqueness, their beauty and their incredible importance for humanity. We will start by exploring the ski region surrounding Val Gardena. There are endless possibilities, utilizing the extensive ski lift system of Dolomiti Superski, to access amazing off-piste terrain. The region is laced with beautiful mountain huts, which serve as wonderful stop points or end of the day appreitivo to celebrate the days outing.

After getting our ski legs and acclimating for the first several days, we will depart Val Garden on skis, combining lifts, downhill runs & skinning up and over Passo Gardena, past the Sella Massive into the next valley of Alta Badia. Continuing up to Passo Falzarego and the Lagazuoi Cable Car. This will take us to one of the most amazing Rifugios and views of all the Dolomites. Rifugio Lagazuoi will be our home for the evening, withing the comforts offered we will enjoy a good meal and rest for the next day’s tour.

From the Rifugio we will begin in ski mode and carve down to the take off point to traverse the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park. After gaining the plateau, we will observe some of the most fascinating geology of the Dolomites. Eventually skiing down to our next hut, Rifugio Lavarella. This will be our home for the next two nights. Lavarella is wondreful cozy family run hut set in the middle of surrounding mountains and spectacular ski tour terrain. A fantastic location to base for the next couple of nights, in the evening the hut serves tasty local specialties and boasts the highest microbrewery in the Alps.

From Rifugio Lavarella, we plan to exit up and over Passo San Antonio, there is an option to ski the summit, and then continue down thru the beautiful valley down to the tiny quaint village of La Val. From here we will transfer to the beautiful Ahrntal Valley via the town of Bruneck.

The Ahrntal is a dead-end valley bordering Austria, Kasern is the very end of the road. The family run Berghotel Kasern will be our home for the next three nights. The ski tour terrain is massive, huge tour potential on both sides of the valley, right out the front door of our hotel.

We will end the "ski safari" portion of the trip here at Kasern.
